Rural Eye Care
Project (RECaP)

RECaP is Anidaso Eye Centre’s flagship sustainable blindness prevention program, designed to bring essential eye care services directly to people living in rural communities. While eye centres remain the main hubs for treatment, many individuals in rural areas are unable to access them due to barriers such as transportation costs, work demands, or ill health. As a result, preventable eye conditions often go untreated until it is too late. RECaP bridges this gap by delivering eye care to the doorsteps of rural populations. Instead of requiring patients to travel long distances to the clinic, our team sets up mini eye clinics in selected rural communities once every month.
During these visits:
- Patients who need drug refills can conveniently receive them.
- Individuals requiring new or replacement glasses can have their prescriptions updated.
- Those with complex conditions are referred to our main eye centre for further examinations and specialized management.
Beyond routine care, RECaP plays a critical role in early detection and urgent intervention, helping to prevent avoidable blindness and visual impairment.
