Led by Founder Dr. Bright Vandyke Okyere, Anidaso Eye Centre is honoured in Italy for pioneering affordable, accessible eye care in rural Ghana

Anidaso Eye Centre (AEC) is proud to announce that it has been named a recipient of the Gian Marco Moratti Award 2026, presented by the E4Impact Foundation. The award was received on behalf of the organisation by our Founder, Dr. Bright Vandyke Okyere.

About the Award

The Gian Marco Moratti Award recognises African businesses poised for meaningful growth and social impact. Anidaso Eye Centre was honoured on May 14, 2026, during the Sustainable Economy Forum in Italy — an event dedicated to dialogue among institutions, businesses, the scientific community, and civil society, and promoted by the Community of San Patrignano and Confindustria.

This recognition celebrates Anidaso Eye Centre's mission to eliminate avoidable blindness across Ghana and, ultimately, Africa, as well as the leadership Dr. Okyere has brought to building the organisation from the ground up.

Why Anidaso Eye Centre Was Recognised

Anidaso Eye Centre (AEC) was founded to close a critical gap in eye care access — particularly for children and low-income populations in rural communities who live with preventable visual impairment due to limited access, affordability, and awareness.

At the heart of our work is the Anidaso Triangle Model, built around three pillars — Cost, Quality, and Accessibility — ensuring that every service we deliver is both impactful for the communities we serve and financially sustainable for the long term.

We operate through a hybrid model designed for maximum reach:

• Rural outreach: Monthly community outreaches and school-based eye screenings bring essential eye care directly to underserved populations who would otherwise have no access to it.
• Urban support: Our branch in Kumasi generates revenue that helps subsidise the cost of our rural and school-based programmes, allowing us to keep care affordable where it's needed most.

This model has allowed Anidaso Eye Centre to grow from a single clinic into a sustainable social health enterprise reshaping vision health across Ghana's rural communities.

A Milestone for the Mission

“This award is a recognition not just of one journey, but of every community health worker, every child who received a pair of glasses, and every family that no longer has to travel hours for basic eye care,” said a spokesperson for Anidaso Eye Centre.

The Gian Marco Moratti Award 2026 adds to a growing list of milestones for Anidaso Eye Centre, including its participation in the Master of Business Creation (MBC) Global programme at the University of Utah's David Eccles School of Business, which has supported the organisation's strategic growth and storytelling under Dr. Okyere's leadership.
